När man följer teknikutvecklingsbranschen är det slående hur många företag som idag arbetat med underliggande teknologier. De utvecklar alltså inte teknik i form av nya tydliga tjänster. De utvecklar alltså inte en app eller en ny webbtjänst.
Jag tycker detta är intressant eftersom vi haft en period där vi laddat ner tekniklösningar till vår mobil i form av appar. De har en färg, fen form. Vi klickar på en symbol så startar de. Vi har som användare tvingats att anpassa oss till tekniken. Vi måste genomföra olika handlingar får att uppnå det vi vill och det som den tekniska tjänsten är till för. En fördel som jag ser det är att detta skapar en medvetenhet om vad vi gör och vad som sker. Nu använder jag en karttjänst. Nu kommunicerar jag med twitter, nu söker jag information, nu gör jag ditt eller datt.
Den trend som jag noterar och som jag uppfattar vara stark och intressant är just mängden företag som ägnar sig åt att skapa teknologi som inte kräver någon form av nedladdning – något aktiv handling hos användaren. Användaren skall inte behöva ändra något beteende. Tanken är att det inte skall finnas något som stör användandet. Det skall inte finnas någon som helst friktion i användandet utan användaren skall enbart uppleva att de saker som behöver ske sker.
Många av dessa företag riktar sig mot de större aktörer (t.ex. Facebook, Google, Apple, HTC etc) och målet är att skapa teknologi som snabbt kan infogas i existerande tjänster. En aspekt av företagandet är iden om att bli uppköpta så snabbt som möjligt. Vi som användaren kommer alltså inte att möta ett nytt varumärke. Snarare kommer de tjänster vi använder att utvecklas.
Som ett exempel skulle det Seattlebaserade företaget A.R.O. kunna ges. Deras projekt SAGA är teknik vars idé är att användaren aldrig skall behöva ge en viss app en uppgift (klicka för att se vädret, lägga till ett möte i kalendern etc). Sagatekniken skall integreras i mobiler och i tjänster och alltid i tystnad agera. Genom analys av dina beteenden och dina preferenser så lär sig telefonen vad som behövs göras. Tekniken gissar vad du gör och vad du behöver ha löst. ”hej – snart går du förbi den där indiska restaurangen som du gillar så mycket – det är lunchtid – du borde vara hungrig”. Löjligt? Jo, kanske men om tekniken använts på ett proaktiv sätt kan det även finnas nyttor; ”du brukar ta röda linjen hem vid den här tiden – vill bara säga att det är tokstopp i tunnelbanan”.
Som vanligt är det så att man kan tycka vad man önskar om teknologi och teknikutveckling. Ur min aspekt är det viktiga att se och förstå vad som händer.
